Octatube developed  in combination with Hugh Broughton Architects in London two glass cockpits for the British Antarctic Survey. The cockpits will be used as panoramic viewpoints for the red Module A. They are constructed of a steel frame with warm bend insulating glass units sitting on top. The panels are structurally silicon bonded and are designed to withstand temperature differences up to -55ºC and wind gushes of 300 km/h. Pre-Assembled in South Africa and finally installed in Antarctica during the one-week summer where the temperature rarely surpasses the 0ºC.

In February 2013 the scientific research centre has bene officially opened. See this link for more information.
