Gown
The metal mesh folds itself smoothly around the corner of this façade in the old city centre of The Hague. The renovation is part of a bigger project in which also the adjacent nineteenth century facades are renovated. The nickname Baljurk (evening gown) is a reference to the shape and the elegant appearance of the facade.
The steel bronze coated mesh is connected to double curved steel ellips tubes by means of Quattro nodes. The translucent mesh reduces the amount of direct sunlight in the interior.
Behind the mesh a strucdtural façade with glass fins is integrated in the historical structure. The top of this double skin façade is enclosed with a fire-rated glazed screen.
