The Muzerije is an amateur art house offering the residents of Den Bosch courses on art and theater on different locations. By adding a glass roof the courtyard of this monument was transformed into a central space where people meet each other and where performances and exhibitions can take place. Together with the elliptical sink building volume, the roof light and the glass elevators are a new addition to the old building. The project has been designed by Hans van Heeswijk.
With this intervention the internal circulation has greatly been improved. All adjacent spaces are directly accessible from the central atrium. The roof light rests on the monumental brick walls and on the other side it perfectly fits onto the sink building volume.
Octatube has currently gained a lot of experience with designing and building glass atriums for historical buildings. The Muzerije fits in this series.
