On Saturday, June 15th, companies from the construction and infrastructure sectors throughout the Netherlands are opening up ongoing construction projects to the public. All kinds of projects, ranging from care institutions to locks and from renovation work to the construction of river landscapes, can participate in this day. One of Octatube's projects, the Afas Experience Center, is also taking part. A unique moment to see the construction of the AFAS Dome up close!
The new headquarters of AFAS, of no less than 62,000 square metres, will consist of various buildings that are connected to each other, including training centres, a restaurant and a theatre. The theatre is an impressive glass dome. Octatube has been contracted by Dura Vermeer Bouw Hengelo to realize this striking dome.
The dome consists of steel tubes and knots, which are assembled into rings in a triangular framework. The assembly of a complete ring takes about a week. We have now reached level 3 of the 10 rings. Next week the last edge tubes will be placed, where the rings will be attached on both sides. Ring 7 is the first ring to make a full circle and will give certainty in the dimensions. From this moment on it will be possible to place the glass as well. After the assembly of ring 10, the crown will be attached at the top at 21.6 meters in height.
If you want to see our work, you can do so on ' Dag van de Bouw' (Construction Day) between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. on Saturday, June 15th 2019! The address is Philipsstraat 9, 3833 LC Leusden. More information about the Construction Day can be found at www.dedagvandebouw.nl. See you then!
