Metal Construction Association Assembly about CE Markign at Octatube
Yesterday Octatube had the honour to welcome the members of the Dutch Metal Construction Association for an assembly about the upcoming mandatory CE Marking.
With great interest amongst the Metal Construction Association’s members, an information meeting was held about CE Marking. Due to the number of registrations, the lectures in the program were moved to the Porceleyne Fles, right next to the Octatube factory. After the lectures, the members continued their discussions with a drink and a snack at the Octatube premises. From 30 years of history, Octatube presented its projects and prototypes, and the importance of tight collaboration between creativity, engineering and quality driven production and installation.
For Octatube the CE Marking is an important addition to the already implemented Quality Management System (ISO9001) and Safety Assurance System (SCC**).
NEN-1090
The transitional period ends at the 1st of July in 2014. From then on, all fabricated structural steel elements fall under the BS-EN-1090 norm. The construction elements have to be provided with a CE Marking, in line with European Standards and the European Technical Assessment (ETA).
The norm shall be mandatory, and has implications for producers of steel- and aluminium Construction elements in the building sector. The metal workshop of Octatube reorganized due to this implementation.

The Dutch Royal Metal Construction Association, initiator of the assembly, has over 13.500 members, making it the largest entrepreneurs organization of the small and medium enterprises in the metal industry. The association focuses on companies in the Metal and Construction sector, from sole traders to companies with over 100 employees.
