Ljusglober
Artist and landscape architect Monika Gora designed Ljusglober (light globe) as a work of art for the empty space inside a huge roundabout next to a highway in Sweden. Each light globe consists of 10 identical slices, made from glass fibre reinforced polyester. At night they are illuminated from within. Octatube helped with the design of the original digital surface model. As each light globe is made out of 10 identical twisted slices of GRP, it had to be assured that the slices could be taken out of the necessary mould without destroying it, subsequently fitting them together seamlessly.
After the final design was approved by Monika Gora, Octatube added the necessary connections to connect the slices. A digital surface model of one finished slice was then sent to the company producing the mould (Nedcam).
