Distinctive glass façade The Diamond finished

The Diamond is a new 4-star hotel and hospitality venue located where the Grand Café Heineken Hoek once stood at Leidseplein in Amsterdam. The building features two façade : a structural façade and an aesthetic glass second skin façade . This glass façade mimics the faceted surface of a diamond. As design & build partner, Octatube was responsible for developing, producing, and installing the glass façade , playing a crucial role in the unique appearance of this already iconic building designed by MVSA.

More than 800 triangular laminated glass panels, placed at various angles and rotations, hang on cables, giving the façade a diamond-like appearance. This design is a nod to the famous Koh-I-Nor diamond that was cut in Amsterdam. Specially designed stainless steel nodes finished with diamond-shaped caps hold the glass panels in place. The glass façade ends in a glass canopy supported by stainless steel swords.

We are proud of the transformation and the unique appearance of The Diamond.
